AI memoir writer

The AI memoir writer that interviews you first.

Ask a chatbot to write your life story and it has to guess at everything you haven't told it. Eve, Ever Journal's AI biographer, does the asking instead: one question at a time, about the gaps in your story. She writes only from your answers, and marks what she doesn't know instead of making it up.

Eve asks

What could you see from your bedroom window when you were small?

Why I'm asking: chapter one has the house, but not the street.
Mika's answer · voice note, 1:42

“The canal, mostly. And Mr. Okada's bakery on the corner. He started at four in the morning, and by five the whole street smelled of bread.”

Chapter one · Born in Osaka

From her bedroom window Mika could see the canal and, on the corner, Mr. Okada's bakery. He started work at four, and by five the whole street smelled of bread.

How Eve writes your memoir with you

  1. 1Start with the basicsYour name, when and where you were born, who raised you and where you grew up. From that, Eve drafts your first chapter straight away, and marks what she doesn't know yet.
  2. 2Answer one question at a timeEve looks for the biggest gap in your story, asks about it and tells you why she's asking. Answer in a sentence or in twenty minutes.
  3. 3Review every changeShe weaves each answer into the right chapter and shows you exactly what she added and which answer it came from. Keep it, edit it or undo it.
  4. 4Watch the chapters take shapeEve sorts your life into chapters by era, and splits, merges or renames them as the story fills in. When a call could go either way, she asks you.
Not a generator

Written from your words, and only your words.

Many AI autobiography generators turn a few lines into pages of plausible prose. Eve works the other way round: the book says only what you've told her, so it grows more slowly, and every fact in it comes from you.

  • Gaps stay gaps. Anything Eve doesn't know is marked in the chapter, and becomes a question for later.
  • Every sentence is checked. Before you see a change, it's checked against your own words.
  • Every paragraph has a source. Tap one to see the entry, voice note or photo it came from.
  • Background is labeled. Eve may add a little context about places and years, always marked as background.
  • Your own words stay put. A paragraph you've written or edited yourself is never rewritten by Eve.
  • Topics you skip, she skips. Tell her what to leave out, and she won't write about it or ask about it.

Answer however you remember best

A book about your life

Write a book about your life, one answer at a time

“My whole life” is too big to start on, which is why so many of these books stall in chapter one. A single question isn't. Each answer goes into the right chapter, and the book keeps its shape as it grows. Here's what you end up with.

  • The story of your whole lifeChapters run in order, from where you were born to where you are now, each one an era of your life. If one part matters most, answer more about it, and it fills more of the book.
  • In your voiceWritten as “I”, or in the third person like a biography. Switch whenever you like, and paragraphs you wrote yourself stay word for word.
  • A book-sized PDF to printWith Eve+, export your book as a book-sized PDF with a cover and page numbers, and have it printed and bound wherever you like.
  • Yours to keep, on any planDownload everything at any time, for free: your book as a text file, every entry, and every photo and recording.

How Eve compares

There are four common ways to get a life story written. Here's how they differ.

Look elsewhere if…

  • you want a finished book in one sitting: Eve writes as you answer, so a full memoir takes weeks or months
  • you need a printed hardcover delivered: Ever Journal exports a PDF that you print yourself

Questions about writing a memoir with AI

Can AI write my memoir for me?

It can write the prose, but it needs your memories first. Eve gets them by interviewing you one question at a time, and writes only from your answers. You decide what happened; she does the drafting, and you approve every change.

Will Eve make things up?

No. Eve writes only from what you tell her, plus light historical context about places and years, which she labels as background. Anything she doesn't know is marked as a gap and becomes a question for later.

Can I write a book about my life for free?

Yes. Free includes your first chapter, 5 questions from Eve a week and unlimited typed entries, all woven into your book, and you can download it as text at any time. Eve+ is $7.99 a month or $59.99 a year, with 7 days free on yearly, and adds unlimited questions, voice answers, photos woven into your chapters and PDF export.

How long does it take?

About two minutes for the basics, and Eve drafts your first chapter straight away. After that the book grows with every answer. On Free, Eve asks 5 questions a week; on Eve+ she keeps going as long as you do. There's no deadline.

Is it a memoir or an autobiography?

Eve writes the story of your whole life, organized by the eras that show up in your answers, which is closer to an autobiography. If one part of your life matters most, answer more about it. Topics you choose to skip, she skips.

Is it written in the first person or the third?

Whichever you prefer. You can switch at any time in your settings, and Eve rewrites the book in the new voice, leaving paragraphs you wrote yourself as they are. Quotes stay exactly as they were said.

Can I use it to write my mother's or father's story?

Each book is the story of the person answering, so your parent would have their own account. You can help them sign up and sit with them for the first few answers. The book stays private to their account.

Can I print my book?

With Eve+ you can export your book as a PDF and print it wherever you like. Ever Journal doesn't print books itself.

Who can read my story?

Only you. Your book is private to your account, and Eve's writing is done by AI models under terms that don't allow training on your data. You can download or delete everything at any time.
